“The storm starts when the drops start dropping. When the drops stop dropping, the storm starts stopping.”

                                                                                                                                                             -Dr. Seuss

Sooo not relevant to this post, but I think this Dr. Seuss quote might be my favorite today. I’ve never heard it either? have you?

I feel like I say this (not so poetically, of course, ALL THE TIME). It is what it is. Get over yourself and get on with it. (I may or may not be talking to myself;o))

So, back to them. . . Aren’t they cute?? Their baby BOY will be here soon.

A friend of mine who has THREE girls is pregnant and hoping for that 4th boy. Like reeeeaaaally hoping for a boy. Well, BETH! I just figured it out . . .  all you need to do is book me to do her newborn pictures and it’s practically a guarantee!

maggie I - How sweet are they! These pictures are awesome! What wonderful memories!

Yvonne - These are so sweet. Love the ones of them in the road.

Carol - When Trent was quite young he marched into his grandparents house and announced, "Here comes your lovely family." Thank you for great pictures of my lovely family!

Tiff - Oh I adore the little picnic and the Dr. Seuss book! Pour me a glass of that lemonade too! Love all your magic! You should check out a shoot my friend Viv just did...I know you will love it! www.heartspunimagery.typepad.com

Courtney - What great photos! My mom is a professional photog, I am passing your site on..she loves looking at other maternity and newborn shooters! Beautiful!

. . . glad I could help!

I really can’t believe how many baby boys I’ve taken pictures of this summer. Definitely a record for me. And only one girl. Crazy.

And, it’s still hot here. yuck.

alexa - The tones in these are just gorgeous. And have I mentioned how much I LOVE your logo? It's perfection. Talk about awesome branding! And thanks for your sweet comment on my blog! I wish you were closer too! Many of my clients eventually have kids and many ask me to photograph them. Wish I could send them over to you!

Anna - Oh my gosh. The first one needs a canvas. QUICK! I'm drowning in sweetness. These are just fantastic, Allison!

a work of heart.

Never got around to getting his sweet newborn booty on here a couple of weeks back.

He got to use one of my favorite Anthropologie blankets – and he didn’t even have an accident on it! That’s my favorite kind of baby!

Amy - oh my goodness . . . these may be my favorite newborn pictures that you've done. I really love the blanket. I saw that in Anthropologie last year & wanted it so bad, but didn't know where I would put it. It was perfect for this!

School is in the air.

Summer must be over . . . it’s getting busy around here! And the light is changing a little bit.

Another baby boy on the way . . .

I’ll be back with the whole session when I finish, because it was a really sweet session.

the Woodlands maternity pictures

happy Sunday, happy 1st week of school, happy fall, happy football season!!

Emily - LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!! I can't wait to see the rest...you are SO talented!!!!

Amy - ooh. Can't wait to see the rest! Love the colors on this one.

three year olds talk A LOT.

Ok, I try not to bore you with stories about my kids, but I’m really loving them this summer (except  when I wish they would go away and leave me alone for 2 minutes – or a whole day;o)).

I’m also really enjoying capturing all these images of moms and their babies (still more to come! way behind here). Sooo, I really must share this awesomeness from today:

We had a lunch date at where else?? Chick-fil-A! . . . with one of my old college roommates, Amy, and her kids. Her husband is a pilot and of course her 3 1/2 year old son shows up with his toy airplane in tow. He even parks it in the (napkin) hanger while we eat.

awesome – right? I found it very polite.

Anyhow, he’s talking, talking, talking like any good 3 year old (of course, in between all the talking, talking, talking we are also trying to process from my 3 year old). 3 year olds talk a lot. like, they must not need as much air, because it seems they just never really stop.

The subject? airplanes. (and his super fast new school shoes)

So, I interrupt his story briefly at one point and explain to my 3 year old that his daddy works on an airplane.

Me: “You know what? His daddy ”drives” the airplane! He’s the pilot; he flies the airplane.”

(expecting a normal adult response, like, “oh – that’s cool”)

Pressly: (stops licking her ice cream cone & in a right back at you kind of voice)

”Well, my daddy works on the yard.”

so there.

See?? Don’t you want one?? they’re awesome.

ALL. THE. TIME.

Houston mom

I love newborn pictures with the parents in them. Mainly because they can look at these and step outside of that very small box where the only thing they see are the endless round-the-clock-feedings and a new (and never ending) sense of “where the heck did my life go??” And, for a second, actually see that this is a very sweet time and you certainly will miss it.

But, probably not until it’s gone.

(and, for the record, my husband really does have a very nice job and he works really hard. both at his job and on the yard. AND  putting up with taking care of us three girls!)

Yvonne - Such a sweet image!
