Lions, and Tigers, and 6,000 images . . . OH MY!

Wow. What a marathon of a freakin’ week (eta: I started this post last weekend . . . and I’m just now finishing it. yeah – one of those weeks) . . . one where you don’t know if you’re going to make it to the other side. I did.

Question: What the heck would you do with 6000 pictures? Maybe you’re use to shooting 6000 pictures in 4 days? If you are, email me . . .maybe you can help me! I usually shoot 300-800 images per session. I’m just so glad I adopted Lightroom as my primary means of editing raw images prior to this little job. I would have lost my mind if I still relied on Photoshop.  So, how did I end up with 6,000 images to deal with this week . . . here’s how:

so  . . . if you aren’t too motion sick from that little clip – keep reading;o) Pictures are coming!

Ok, so that was cheesy – don’t think I don’t know. My mom is even going to make fun of me (oh wait, she does that anyway);o) But, it’s a lot to explain . . . and no one seems to understand even when I do explain, so I thought I’d take a minute to show you. Basically I shot about twenty 20-minute mini-sessions every day for 4 days at Janie & Jack at The Woodlands Mall. Do the math, I’m too tired. My poor hard drives are quivering.  I came home on day 2 all salty from breaking a sweat multiple times. I helped put the girls to bed and then collapsed on the couch to dump my memory cards. As I was chattering away about the day, Pride says in a half worried half I knew you would love this tone, “You’re totally enjoying this aren’t you.”  I gave him that yeap, I’m kind of likin’ it nod. Don’t know why I can’t seem get enough packed on my schedule, but this quote keeps calling my name . . .

“Photography to the amateur is recreation, to the professional it is work, and hard work too, no matter how pleasuralbe it may be.”     -Edward Weston

My knees are bruised & I have a blister on my pinkie from holding my camera all day every day! (eta: now my knuckle on my middle finger is swollen & I can’t bend it. Yeah . . . that’s a problem. Wrong finger to be sticking up all the time.) Seriously, a lot of shooting went on. I should have been miserable, but it really was fun. It would be more fun if I didn’t have 6000 images to deal with now!! Did I mention that I have 6000 images to deal with?? So, now I’m going to bury my head and finish cataloguing and working up said 6000 images. It was a lot of hard work, but a lot of fun too. I got to meet sooo many neat families and some really cool kids!

Ok, enough about poor little ole’ me . . . on to some pictures! Most of these are some of my favorite clients that came to see me . . . You’ll recognize some of them. This baby girl was one of my very first real clients . . . her newborn pictures still remain on my website in the newborn gallery. Where does the time go?

There are plenty of pictures of these kids smiling . . . BUT, these are my favorite. Do you know what it feels like to tote a toddler around all day while another toddler constantly vies for that attention??? If not you’re missing out;o) Some day (not today) she’s gonna miss this . . . and that’s why I love doing this . . .

ok, seriously . . . if anyone needs a model . . . I’ll hook you up! This one put on a show. Usually I’m doing all sorts of stupid dances. It’s not pretty. I didn’t have to work at all for these shots! She’s awesome.

Like I said, plenty of him smiling perfectly at the camera . . . then there’s this. Is he looking straight through my soul or what?? perfection. This was my favorite. I can see his sweet, sometimes mischeivious, sometimes a little silly but always a teeny bit shy, and inquisitive little person in there.

. . . and this ONE. She’s a phreckle nose original . . . a favorite . . . perfection . . . love her . . . can’t get enough of it . . . CUTIE. You’ll see her big blue eyes all over my blog & website. I missed her mom’s maternity session because she surprised us, but I’ve also photographed her since she was born. She’s always been full of a million different faces and candid expressions. The coolest thing . . . I see this face now & I saw it then. So much more personality now, but the same look in her eyes. I adore her (and her momma) (and her Aunt jodie . . . who has waited patiently while hitting the refresh key like a woman whose all hopped up on mountain dew and sweet tarts). See more of her personality  here, here, and here.

Melissa A Lively - More!!! More!!! More!!! These are so cool!!! Great job!!!

Candy - Those shots are super cool. I love the simlicity of them. It’s truly just a kid & their personality – it doesn’t get much better if you ask me! I can’t wait to see some more. I know you’re tired . . . I don’t know how you did it.

Anna - Hi Allison! I can’t even remember how I came across you (maybe Michele’s blog?), but I’ve been eyeing your blog for a while now and am a fellow PTP photographer! I have stared at that clothing for three days straight, total drool, and the music cracked me up–oh so familiar!!! I am with you on the bruised knees…were your thighs totally aching, as well? It was exhausting but lots of fun. Just so glad to know someone else who was enjoying this craziness, too!

Gretchen - Thanks for being so great with kids! Kids really know a person’s soul and you’re a sweet one. Brooke enjoyed her shoot with you.

Leigh Ann Hines Photography - These came out great!

And yes, I do shoot that much, and more, during festival season. I’ll shoot about 3000-4000 a day, and have to cull, edit, and ftp to my publication within 12 hours. So yeh, I totally LOVE lightroom. It’s a ton of work, but also a ton of fun (well, most of the time)
