We missed the rainbow, but it was still epic . . .

You all know the story . . . boy meets girl . . . girl marries boy. They’re rowing along to the tune of [ -insert favorite song to chill out to here- ] doing whatever it is that makes them both happy.
Then, BAM!
Baby makes three. Ok, enough with the cliches. This [very soon to be] mom contacted me about creating some unique art to commemorate this fleeting time for her. Soon, baby Cooper will be here & I’ll also get to photograph him as a newborn! Can’t wait to see what he’s like. I don’t know their real story as well as I’d like too. Mom didn’t contact me until just a week before this session & unfortunately I squeezed her into a very busy month . . . so, we’ll have to visit more when I’m doing baby Cooper’s newborn pictures. Here are the basics: Dad is into numbers and music. Mom is a teacher and has an eye for vintage fashion. She was cool . . .  in a calm-laid back-not stressed by changes in the plans-kind of way. Since I can be a bit excitable, I like to be around “chill” people (like her). Later, at her in person ordering session at my house, we discovered that we both love several of the same things and places (she’s an Anthro girl). It’s always interesting to me that my clients’ seem to have so much in common with me! I guess I shouldn’t be surprised . . . I consider myself lucky blessed though.

I just love being on this side of the action. Getting to watch their lives change soooo drastically in a matter of minutes. If you’re on “this side” with me – you know what I mean. I want to warn them. Tell them to sleep in every day. Enjoy just sitting on the couch with no one demanding anything of you. Enjoy just being your own person. Because in a week or so you’ll be a parent. You’ll no longer be your own person. Totally different lifestyle. Your life will pretty much belong to someone else (for a while anyway). And it’s the greatest thing you’ll ever be/do . . . so rest now:o) But, my warnings won’t do any good. When you’re on “that side” you just can’t wait for that baby to get here . . . no matter what anyone says. So, until he makes his debut . . . here are some of my favorite images from his mommy’s maternity session.

This is where baby Cooper’s story begins . . .

I love the symmetry in this picture. I wish I could say I intended it to be symbolic of the balance they now have in their lives . . . soon to be livened up with a little “imbalance”. We’ll definitely have to revisit this site & get a picture of baby Cooper sitting just to the right of the frame to balance out this “too perfect” picture properly! I’m such a sucker for perfect symmetry though . . .

We decided to head out for this session even though it was pouring rain when I left Alden Bridge. I was hoping the rain would quit & we’d have the most beautiful sunset as a result of a storm just shy of sunset. WE LUCKED OUT! There was even a rainbow. Epic. Wish we’d caught it in a picture, but that’s ok. I’ll always remember it. The light was gorgeous on this very hot evening.

I loooove how mom is looking off into the sunset. I like to imagine what she’s thinking.

She’s so smart to pick one of the best colors for a photo shoot. It’s even better that she’s 9 months pregnant & not wearing a maternity dress. My kind of girl. Practical. . . just another Anthropologie dress. Awesome.

sidenote: I just found out this weekend that it’s so not cool to say “awesome” anymore. I guess I’ll be showing my age now, because I’m not giving it up. My apologies now.
