. . .

. . .

hmm.

yeah – I don’t know what to say here & I think just about anything I say will dilute the amazingness of the images below. So fair warning – I’m about to vomit on “paper.”

These images are in my top 2 favorite sets of images I’ve captured this year – or ever maybe (the other’s you won’t see here – too personal). . . I’m a little facinated by birthing and breastfeeding and moms and their innate abilities. Maybe it’s just the stage  of life I’m in with two kids in the 0-3 range? I’ve been birthing or nursing somebody for the past 4 years now. I think it’s an amazing, powerful, and lovely God-given honor. I think it’s one of the things our country sadly fails at supporting every single day. And it bugs me. Because other countries GET IT. If  I could travel to every country/tribe/continent and document how mothers outside of America birth babies and feed them (a lot of times with no medical help what-s0-ever) through my lens. Oh my gosh -that would be a dreeeaaaam job for me. Anybody want to pay me to do that!!?? Ok, whatever, I’ll keep dreaming.

I  – am  – over – the – moon – happy (and honored) that she is letting me share these here.

These mental images would fade in 12 months when his baby leg rolls start melting away. However, these images will last forever. If the light is right and the mood is right, I almost always take these images at a newborn session. They just don’t usually get shared here. I will still be back with their full session – just wanted these to have  a post of their own. That is the very least they deserve. And, of course,  to do my part to promote the amazingness of 1 mom.

Good job momma. Keep it up.

do me a favor please  & comment if you agree??;)I know I’m not the only one that feels this way.

LLH Designs - I don’t have any images like that, but if I did, you’re the one I’d want to take them for me! So pure and tender.

Nancy Hurst - Kristina sent me the link to your site. What amazing photos! It brings back such memories for me…and that was over 25 years ago!!! You never forget what a profound moment it is in your life when you are in it. Maybe it’s the sleep deprivation working on you. However, it was those quiet times with him or her in my arms breastfeeding that I remember the most. Treasure these times…they are truly one of the best times of your life!

Leyla - What could be more beautiful than a mother nourishing her beautiful baby. Our bodies do these amazing things and it should be celebrated!

allison - April – my first weaned herself at 20 months and my 2nd one is 18 mos now (we’ll see about her timeline?!). People really say the dumbest stuff to me – I’ve heard it all. This is off the top of my head . . . but I’m pretty sure the World Health Organization recommends 5 years! um – wow. Can’t imagine that. And, the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends a minimum of 1 year and I think 2 years is their basic recommendation. Something like that. Now, I’m not judging – I’m just saying our country doesn’t support moms who want to do what God made them to do properly. That’s all i’m sayin.
Kristina – back at you!
Erin – you’re the best & I think a whole heck of a lot of you as a mom;o)

Yvonne - LOVE these! I wish I was able to get images like this when my lil’ one was born. So special.

Erin - You know that I TOTALLY agree. What a precious time between Mom and Baby,,,,and what a BEAUTIFUL baby! Seriously sweet. All of your shots are so creamy but sharp at the same time, and that is why I love your work!

alexa - Yes, absolutely gorgeous. You captured an amazing bond.

Kristina Kahney - Amen sister!! Allison, you are seriously one of the most amazing and coolest people I have the honor of knowing. You have such a passion for love and life, it shows in everything you do. You capture real people and real life in the most beautiful way I have ever seen. I am blessed to have you in my life…. and you totally rock!!

tanya warpula - Of course I agree. I am so proud that I nursed all 5 of my babies (ages 18mon-7yrs) for 13 months each. What a great experience it was for us.

Leigh Ann - Absolutely stunning!

Crystal - I LOVE these images. My little angel is 18 months now and I’m regretting not capturing the beautiful time of her nursing. It was the favorite part of my day.
Keep up the great work! I love your imagery.

april - I couldn’t agree more… these images are so so beautiful and momma will cherish them forever. She, and baby, are lovely.
And I also agree that our country is way out of the loop when it comes to breastfeeding. It is truly a spectacular thing. I am currently nursing my firstborn who is not quite 4-weeks old… and am already being asked how long I plan to nurse. I respond with “as long as I can” and occasionally add how UNICEF and other organizations recommend nursing for at least the first two years and up to seven years. I think you should totally travel to document they way other countries birth/feed their babies!! :)

Nakesha - Just stumbled across your blog! I am SO glad to see this! So precious :)
