It’s that time of year . . . taxes & business plans. bleck.

And, seriously, a lot of things are up in the air for me right now. I know what I need to do . . . but it’s all hard. I’m being fickle. I really need someone to hold my hand & tell me what to do. Who that would be – I have no idea . . . so I just need to get over that fantasy.

BUT, it’s all good news because it will make me a better business owner & photographer for you:o)

So, happy New Year & it will all be in place by the end of the month!

This was truly a “mini” session from the fall . . . it was about 20 minutes & they were done! They did so awesome in 20 minutes that I’m not sure that mattered one bit.

Pretty. Sweet. Simple. baby Cousins.

The youngest baby was just a newborn (her newborn session) a few weeks before this session with her cousin. It never ceases to amaze how fast babies change. Just a few weeks later & she is so bright eyed here! That first year is priceless. Some of you may have read that strange letter ‘on my doorstep’ that was circulating facebook this week. It was an interesting idea, real or contrived?? Maybe it is, who knows. However, another local photographer brought up a good point in her cynicism (which I share, sorry) . . . At least it sparked some interesting conversations this week. And, that’s always fun to watch unfold. Even if you don’t have the means to document your baby professionally with custom newborn or baby photography . . . good grief. Who cares?! Get a decent camera and document each day/moment. Document the ones that frustrate you, make you happy, the quiet ones, the details, the messes of laundry & bottles. All of it. Because it will be gone fast & you won’t remember most of it without the tangible memories, which then wedge themselves into your brain to support your subconscious memories. AND, if you do have the means to hire us to do it for you. HECK yeah, it will be awesome . . . ridiculously awesome and beautiful. And, you sure won’t regret that;o)

p.s., and really . . . don’t leave me a weird letter . . . just reschedule when you realize the error of your ways. thanks.

Soooo, I happened to mention on facebook yesterday that I had a free gallery wrap canvas to give away! Easy Canvas Prints gave me a canvas to give away. I just got mine from them this past week & I LOVE IT. The color was great, I loooooved the matte finish and the rough canvas texture. I get annoyed by shiny canvas – it’s just not natural. So the matte canvas feel was just about my favorite thing, other than an awesome picture of my girls on the wall! Ordering was so easy & their prices will rock your world. They did mine. And, seriously, the quality is perfectly good! great even! I will take pictures as soon as these gloomy clouds clear so you can see mine. But, I didn’t want to make you wait! I love gallery wrapped canvases on the walls, but if you’re a client of mine – you know how I feel about paying so much for something that you will probably want to change next year. It’s a common sense thing for me. BUT, if you’re a client of mine you also have your digital files . . . well, lucky you;o) This is for YOU! Even if you don’t win this canvas, you’ll still want to get on their email list & like their facebook page, because they send out the most amazing specials. I got one this week for 4 hours only & I am still kicking myself for not taking the time to order one. I am not being paid to say this, I was just impressed with them overall!

Bonus!!! You also get 50% off AND free shipping on your next order when you “like” their facebook page. I’ll make it easy for you . . . just click here: Easy Canvas Prints

So go and create some new and fabulous wall art for yourself at Easy Canvas Prints! Merry Christmas!!

Oh – how do you win the free one?

1. You have to comment here or on Facebook and tell me who that awesome child is in my favorite picture of the year that I posted there yesterday . . .

2. triple bonus points . . . tell me also something you are doing or have done that is charitable for Christmas.

I shared earlier this week on face book, but since NAPCP (National Association of Professional Child Photographers) so kindly sent me the pictures with the fancy “award-winning” ribbon . . . I might as well post them again here;o) Kristin Smith also just posted a completely easy and awesome Valentines day craft today too! Check it. Several of my favorite images from 2010 in were in the running for several categories in NAPCP’s national image competition. I was so surprised and excited I actually had a couple of winners!

Are you curious if your picture was entered?

So, here are the winners . . .

. . . and all the pictures from 2010 that were entered in the family, newborn, toddler, maternity and sibling categories.

I had to give each picture a title which was kind of fun, but thankfully I don’t have to do that regularly or I would never finish anything. I changed my mind about 849 times per photo. I like the dimension it adds.

I love my google reader! I know most people I know don’t use one & I just find that such a shame. It absolutely makes life more efficient even if you only read a few blogs. If it’s all too confusing to you watch this little video . . . and then if you are an iPhone lover (or just an owner), <del>go to the app store and purchase “byline” .</del> (new reader updated below)It will put all of your blogs into a newspaper style “reader” and it will show all of new posts from your favorite blogs on your phone! Then you don’t have to go and check to see if there is new content. It’s always there. I read my “reader” on my iPhone at night when putting the kids down, when waiting in long lines, when I want to avoid talking to all the chatty cathy’s at *#(*&$^ or when my husband pauses the DVR for the 9 millionth time to *&#(*$#^. I’m efficient, see?! My mom, husband, mother-in-law and quite a few friends don’t take advantage of their smart phones, so this is for them . . . and whoever else . . .
